Motsameta Monastery is located 6 kilometers from the city of Kutaisi above the Rioni River. It is also called the Monastery of St. David and Constantine. It is one of the picturesque temples in Georgia. It is located in a secluded place and surrounded by thick forests. Its current church dates back to the eleventh century, but historical records show that a church was built on this place as early as the eighth century. The monastery attracts crowds of tourists with an old superstition that if one crawled three times under the arch of the church and made a wish while touching the holies, the wish would be fulfilled.
