Information about Mosquee Sidi Boumediene
This great architectural edifice was built by the Marinids, in honor of Abu Madyan bin Shuaib, a righteous guardian, born in Seville and buried in Ain Al-Masjid during the twelfth century. Has contributed to the spread of Sufism in the Maghreb. This engineering group includes a mosque, a mausoleum, and a school. The mosque is considered one of the most important achievements of Moroccan-Andalusian art in Algeria. The prayer hall is also covered by a sloping ceiling with recessed and geometric decorations, such as endless networks of stars and intersecting shapes and rosettes. This hall consists of five naves parallel to the qibla wall. It is divided into three bays. It rests on tiles perpendicular to the qiblah. The arches rest on pillars, the upper part of which is decorated with Arabic foliation. It's a beautiful place definitely worth a visit.
