Al-Qarawiyyin Mosque and University is one of the most important Islamic historical monuments in the city of Fez, and indeed in Morocco in general. The Al-Qarawiyyin Library is one of the oldest and most ancient libraries in the world, which combines its shelves with a large number of rare Islamic manuscripts, numbering about 4 thousand manuscripts indexed in an electronic and scientific way. Around this library, a mosque was built, the largest of its kind in the city, with an outside courtyard with mosaic floors and walls engraved with verses from the Holy Qur’an.
