The Italian government set up the Aki Kefalonia Soldiers Monument in memory of the Italian soldiers who lost their lives in the First World War in a heinous massacre carried out by the German army against them. Tourists can pass by this monument and perhaps participate in the ceremonies that are held there in memory of the massacre.
