The Freedom Monument was built in the Bulgarian city of Ruse at the beginning of the twentieth century by the Italian sculptor Arnoldo Zocchi. Above it represents a female figure holding a sword in her left hand, while her right hand indicates the direction from which the national liberators arrived, and one of the two bronze lions at the base tears the chains of fire with his mouth, while the other defends the shield of freedom, and there are inscriptions of resistance scenes on the pedestal .
