Information about Monreale Cathedral
Monreale Cathedral is one of the greatest examples of Norman architecture, dating back to 1174 commissioned by William II of Sicily. Then the church was completely restored in general by Pope Lucius III, and was converted to the rank of cathedral for the island's capital, Palermo. The church is considered a national monument of Italy and one of the main attractions in Sicily. The church is surrounded by a huge wall crowned with twelve towers, in addition to the presence of many monastic buildings in the southern part of the church.
