When ascending Mount Scopus, a visit to the Panagia Skopotica Monastery, whose name means the Mother of the Holy Guardian God, is a must. Part of the church was destroyed over time, but it is still possible to visit the largest part of it and see the church icons and paintings that personify the saints. You can also see archaeological remains from the Temple of Artemis, the Greek goddess of hunting and nature, for the mountain was a sacred site for them.
