On the 8th of November, tourists and locals come in droves to Symi Island to enjoy the largest and most important religious celebration in the Monastery of the Great Archangel Michael Panormites, where a great feast is held and the faithful pray for good health and protection. The monastery is open all year round and receives visitors wishing to enter its corridors and see its icons and religious paintings painted by local artists.
