The Misericordia Chapel appears in some plans of Braga Cathedral as a minor annex, but in fact it is an outstanding historical monument. It was built in 1562, but was greatly modified during the eighteenth century. Today it is distinguished by its discreet decoration, and still preserves good examples of Renaissance architecture. Inside, the carved Baroque altar and the painted wooden ceiling are noteworthy.
