Menengai volcano is one of the most famous tourist destinations in Nakuru. It was formed more than 200,000 years ago. It is considered the largest volcano in Kenya, and the second largest in Africa. Volcanic activity continues in it as work is being done to generate thermal energy from the active lava in it. As for the tourists, they enjoy the scenic views from the top of the volcano, where there are organized tours to climb to the top.
