Mendoza Park is named after Dr. Higinio Mendoza, a Palawan war hero. Doctor Mendoza's resistance to Japanese control led to his execution at Kanigaran on January 24, 1944; His remains and those of several unknown soldiers have been entered in the memorial located on one side of the park. The garden is shaded by ancient acacia trees and surrounded by ornamental plants, and on the eastern side of the garden there is an amphitheater where various performances are performed.
