Martyrs Street, also known as Martyrs' Quarter, formerly known as Kirov Park, is a memorial cemetery, dedicated to all the people who were killed by the Soviet Army during a disastrous event, known as the January massacre, as this was a mass murder of the civilian population of Baku, Today the cemetery houses many shrines belonging to all the families in the city, and thousands of people visit the site daily to pay their respects to the independence fighters and the innocent victims of the brutal events.
