This museum has a large collection of artworks of the Russian-born French painter and designer. Marc Chagall. In honor of his creative works, and to preserve them, this museum was established in his honor. Since the museum's establishment, its collections have naturally moved and evolved with time, comprising the donations of Chagall (one of the most successful artists of the 20th century) in 1972, including the letter of the Bible in 1966 as well as all of his preparatory work and a large group of other works, such as book paintings The sacred book from 1931, the 105 epigraphic engravings with their copperplates, and a large collection of lithographs including two series of biblical lithographs.
