Located near Kitulgala town, Makandawa Forest Reserve covers an area of 1,155 hectares and is one of the richest rainforests that can be found in the country. It is home to many rare species of flora and fauna endemic to Sri Lanka. The Bridge on the River Kwai, which won seven Academy Awards in 1958.
