Located on the Place des Vosges, the museum dates back to 1605. When the mansion was granted to Isaac Arnold and was greatly improved by the de Rohans family, Victor Hugo was thirty years old when he moved into the house in October 1832 with his wife, Adele. The palace was converted into a museum when Paul Meurice made a large donation to the city of Paris to purchase the house. It is now considered a historical museum in which the valuables of Victor Hugo are displayed.
