Information about Magoki Attor Mosque
Majuki Atari Mosque is located within the grounds of the historical center of Bukhara, and is one of the sites inscribed by UNESCO on the World Heritage List. It is believed that the mosque was built in the ninth century on the ruins of a Zoroastrian temple and a market for idols, spices and perfumes. That is why the mosque was called "Atari". The historical account says that the Jews and Muslims of Al-Bukharibin used this mosque to worship side by side in the same place and at the same time. The mosque also has the distinction of being one of the oldest surviving mosques in Central Asia and one of the few surviving buildings in Bukhara from before the Mongol invasion. The building of the mosque has been modified dozens of times through the ages, so visitors will find in it architectural details from different periods of time.
