Information about Liberty Statue
The Statue of Liberty in Budapest, Hungary, was first erected in 1947 to commemorate Hungary's liberation from Nazi forces during World War II, and because of its location on Gellért Hill, it is one of Budapest's landmarks. The 14-meter-high bronze statue stands atop a 26-meter base and holds sheets of palm fronds. There are also many smaller statues around the base but the original monument consisted of several others that were removed from the site and moved to the Sculpture Garden.
