It is believed that Lowenburg was originally a watchtower in the late Roman period, and the castle was first mentioned in a document in 1207, and today you can see the remains of this ancient castle, as the castle was severely damaged after the Thirty Years' War that extended between In 1618 and 1648, after which it became the property of canton Aargau, and shortly thereafter, the townspeople demolished all the buildings except for the main tower that still stands today.
