Larnaca Salt Lake is a series of lakes of varying sizes, covering a total area of 2.2 square kilometres. It is a protected area under the Barcelona Convention and an Important Bird Area. It is a home and resting station for flamingos and some other migratory waterfowl. On its banks is the Hala Sultan Mausoleum, which is considered one of the holiest Ottoman shrines.
