It is the fourth largest lake in Lombardy located in the north of the country. The lake is divided almost equally between the provinces of Bergamo and Brescia. The northern part of the lake has been converted into a protected area as part of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve known as Valle Camonica - Alto. The lake is famous for its clear turquoise waters and the picturesque natural environment of the green mountains surrounding it. It attracts tourists greatly to enjoy the scenic natural scenes and the fact that it is suitable for practicing various water activities.
