Lake Faak is located 7 km southeast of Villach at the foot of the 2,163-meter Mittagskogel Mountain. The park that surrounds it is 2.6 kilometers long and 1.7 kilometers wide, and is famous for its clear turquoise waters that flow into the Gale River. It is a favorite place for sunbathing due to the average summer temperatures of 27°C. Motor boats are not allowed on this small lake. Other popular activities around the lake include horse riding, climbing and walking, as well as cycling (a variety of bike tours are available). The area has a number of attractive resorts, hotels, and restaurants, as well as many camping and picnic sites.
