Corfu locals deserted Lake Antinute for long periods in the past and called it the enemy of youth because they lost so many loved ones to the malaria mosquitoes that infested it. Today, the area has come to life again and tourists come to enjoy the view of the lake, or to take part in walking tours and exploration in the surrounding fields filled with olive trees and flower nurseries.
