La Porte d'Espagne - Oran: Working hours, Activities, Visitor reviews
Information about La Porte d'Espagne
Spain Gate, originally called Jimenez Gate, is an enormous arched door in the neighborhood of Sidi El Houari, (Dahli Brothers Street), and is currently one of the largest remains of Spanish architecture still preserved in Oran. After the conquest of Oran by Spain in 1509, the Spaniards learned that the city was desirable, so they decided to build walls through the doors surrounding the city, and thus the gate was built. This gate is a picturesque archaeological tourist destination, and when you visit this place, it is preferable to wear comfortable clothes and shoes.
