The master plan of the Kocaeli Science Center was a software test, construction strategy and demonstration for the reuse of the Sika Paper Mill as a science center, historical museum complex, and cultural center. The Scientific and Research Council of Turkey began a partnership with Kocaeli Municipality to realize this project. The Science Center, with a special exhibit focusing on the history of the mill and the science behind papermaking, plus a theater, souvenir shop, and café. Today's science center aims to make science and technology understandable and accessible to society, and includes experiential and hands-on activities to encourage visitors to experiment and discover.
