Knysna Elephant Park was established in 1994, as the first facility in South Africa to house and care for orphaned African elephants. The park also includes reintroduced animals, orphaned calves, elephants rescued from executions and previous circus animals. Today, this park is one of the country's most important tourist facilities, which annually attracts more than 40,000 visitors.
