Kings Chapel Cemetery is the oldest cemetery in the city of Boston, and in the state generally, and like the majority of burial grounds in Boston, has always been under municipal control, and is not affiliated with any other church. Here many of the city's important personalities were buried, as the oldest graves and cemeteries were scattered randomly throughout the grounds, without formal paths, and this distinguishes it from the rest of the city's cemeteries.
