Information about Kinder House
The Kinder House is one of the oldest and most important buildings in Auckland. This two-story residence was built as the home of Reverend John Kinder, who is known today as one of the city's most important colonial figures. Kinder immigrated to Auckland in 1855 to take up the position of A grammar school teacher, and then became one of the most talented artists of the nineteenth century in New Zealand, so, the house was built for Kinder and his family in 1857 under the supervision of the Anglican Church in appreciation of his efforts, do not miss the opportunity to visit him to learn about aspects of Kinder's private life and enjoy the art of building Old New Zealand.
