Karlova Manor Palace was founded in 1793 when it was separated from Tahtvere Manor. Thaddeus von Bulgarin purchased the palace in 1828, and expanded the old building to more than double its original size. The palace had a remarkably rich collection of artifacts, books, and rarities, which included the largest private map collection in the Russian Empire. It is worth noting that the palace is a private property and tours are only possible if arranged in advance.
