Karaburun Sazan is the first and only national marine park in Albania, covering an area of 12570.82 hectares, the aim of its establishment was to strike a balance between sustainable economic development and the preservation of natural resources by providing long-term protection and preservation of biodiversity, while providing a sustainable flow of natural products and services in The same time to support the development of coastal areas. This marine park represents a very rich and attractive place in terms of attractions of natural and cultural heritage, whether at sea or on land, it reveals a rich traditional culture of lifestyle, folklore, music, handicrafts, gastronomy etc. The area is home to at least 36 marine species of international importance that belong to the endangered species list and/or are protected by several international agreements.
