The Johannestor Gate is the only city gate remaining in Jena from the medieval city wall. The first written mention of the gate dates back to 1304 AD. The gate was rebuilt in the Gothic style in the fifteenth century, and the gate tower is 31 meters long. To the upper floors inside it through the stairs, and the gate was used in the past to guard the city, and is considered one of the important historical monuments in the city.
