Jakob Hurda was an Estonian folklorist and linguist who studied theology at the University of Tartu (candidate of theology since 1865) and in 1886 received a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Helsinki, taking a leading role in the main events of the Estonian national movement. The Jacob Horda memorial was completed in 1994, so when you pass by, don't forget to take memorial photos next to it.
