The Island of Tears is located in the central historical place of Minsk, and is one of the main tourist attractions of the city, which includes a great monument that gave it a distinct historical significance. This distinctive monument was built in 1985 AD, when the war was still going on. This beautiful and aesthetically mobile memorial commemorates the Soviet soldiers from Belarus who died in the long war with Afghanistan in the 1970s. At the base are several huge statues depicting women crying and expressing the pain and grief of mothers, sisters and wives of their generation.
