Information about Inner City Parish Church
The inner city parish church of Budapest was built in the 12th century in Romanesque style, only to be destroyed in the invasion of the Tatars, and in the 14th century the ruins were replaced by a Gothic structure that was converted into a mosque during the Turkish invasion of the 16th and 17th centuries, and in 1723 it witnessed A major fire destroyed the building and then it was rebuilt in the Baroque style. Today the building combines a wide range of distinctive architectural styles that refer to the historical events in which it was subjected. It is a Gothic church with a carved neo-Gothic pulpit, 15th-century Italianate frescoes, and a high altar from the 20th century.
