The Great Mosque, called the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque, is located in the Qasr Al-Hukm area in the center of Riyadh. It was established during the reign of Imam Turki bin Abdullah. The mosque is one of the largest and most important mosques in the city of Riyadh and has undergone many expansions. The mosque was built in a land called Al-Naq’a located in the center of Riyadh, where Imam Turki bin Abdullah bin Muhammad Al Saud ordered the construction of a mosque later named after him and appointed Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Hassan Al Al-Sheikh, who appointed him as a supervisor and head of scholars, and asked him to return the old school to the study of sciences. And the common arts at the time, and he took into account its proximity to several neighborhoods in addition to its proximity to the Palace of Government and made it a scientific institution similar to what was in the first Saudi state, and it was the custom of Imam Turki when he prays Friday in the Great Mosque to leave the door that is located south of the mihrab, This section has been prepared regarding the qiblah of the mosque for entering and leaving and for the imam to enter from crossing people’s necks due to the large number of rows in the mosque, and these additions took place during the period of his rule before 1241 AH until 1249 AH corresponding to (1826-1834).
