The Hungarian Museum of Commerce and Tourism was founded in 1966 and began its work on the World Heritage Buda Castle. The only museum of its kind in the world, it houses exhibits collected from the region of Hungary, and initially the museum's collection contained only food-making artifacts, which was later expanded by the addition of a collection of trade history relics. The Museum has a special responsibility to actively participate in teaching and further education, and therefore supports the expansion of professional knowledge through guided tours, lectures and competitions as well.
