The Hungarian Heritage House was established with the aim of cultivating and promoting the folk traditions of the Carpathian Basin by researching, preserving, interpreting and organizing the traditional communication systems of dance, folk music, poetry and folklore values preserved by oral traditions. The Institute wants the folk traditions of the Carpathian Basin (including the folk traditions of minorities living in the Hungarian region) to be a part of everyday culture, and many tourists and visitors visit it to learn about Hungarian culture through the performances and events presented in it.
