This picturesque area of 14 hectares (one hectare equals 4,200 square metres) in the heart of Interlaken was established in the 1860s, by a group of locals, and is a small example of the developments that have arisen in the city since that year. Today, the area is one of the most picturesque areas visited by locals and tourists in order to have a lot of rest and relaxation and to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It is easily accessible as it is located in an area close to the eastern and western railways. In the garden there are a lot of flowerbeds, and you will also find a garden called the Small Friendship Garden, which is the first Japanese garden in Switzerland.
