The most important church and landmark in Lucerne. This magnificent church was built at intervals between 1633 and 1639 on the ruins of a Romanesque church that was burned down in 1633. This church was one of the few churches north of the Alps built during the Thirty Years' War, and is one of the largest churches rich in Renaissance art. Pointed towers, carved walls, statues, curved eaves, and exquisite decorations are found here. It is a church that is definitely worth a visit if you are in town.
