President Ho Chi Minh is considered the hero of Vietnam's national liberation and a great man of culture. After his death on September 2, 1969, in compliance with the aspirations of the Vietnamese people, the Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam decided to build his own mausoleum and museum in his memory. The Ho Chi Minh Museum was inaugurated on September 2, 1990 to mark the centenary of the president's birth. It houses more than 170,000 exhibits, collectibles, and films about his life and revolutionary work, and is one of Hanoi's top attractions.
