The main building of the Long House Museum is located in the building where the managers of the wool factory lived until the middle of the 20th century (the factory was destroyed in a fire during World War II). The house was popularly called the Long House, and the more than 60-meter-tall building built in the 1960s is still the tallest wooden house in the area, and during the Soviet era housed many government agencies, including the education department and library.
