Higashiyama Geishu-ji is an ancient temple with its origins in 1482, one of the buildings representing Higashiyama culture in Muromachi period 1338-1573 of Japanese history. In addition to the famous temple building, the place is distinguished by its amazing outdoor garden designed in the Japanese style by the great artist Sōami, and has even become a tourist destination in its own right.
