Housed in a building over 100 years old, the Haynes Library is named after Governor William Frederick Haynes Smith, who ordered the construction of the first batch of government buildings on Eleuthera Island in 1897. The library includes a children's book room and a spacious section with books on The Bahamas and the Caribbean has a great reference library. The library also provides its customers with free internet.
