The largest art museum in Germany. It is housed in a 19th century Italian Renaissance-style building with some modern additions built later. Highlights of the museum's holdings are medieval church altars by Master Bertram and Master Francke, and 17th-century Dutch artwork, along with paintings by Rembrandt. The museum also houses works from the Pop Art movement and contemporary works of conceptual art.
