Hamad Bin Khalifa Stadium is the home of the Qatar Stars League Al-Ahly team, which is the oldest football team in Qatar. The stadium was renovated in 2015 to increase its capacity to 18,00 seats. It is a multi-purpose stadium. The stadium is the first completed stadium that will host part of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, and in 2017, it received a four-star rating from the Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS), the first in the world to receive this rating.
