One of the most interesting tourist sites in Hallstatt is the Hallstatt Orthopedic House in St Michael's Church, dating back to the 12th century and located next to the Catholic parish church. Every year, visitors from all over the world come to admire the extraordinary collection of more than 600 Artistically painted skulls, many of which were decorated at the end of the eighteenth century and a few in the twentieth century.
