Information about Gustav Adolfs Torg
The Gustav Adolfs Square, which is called by the people of Malmö Gustaf, is the second largest square in Malmö, which is located at the southern end of the old town of Gamla Staden. The 15,000-square-foot area is decorated with groups of trees, plenty of benches, a small lawn area, sculptures, and ornate fountains. Also standing on a circular pedestal in the center is one of Malmö's favorite sculptures, the Lekande barn. Created in 1913 by Anders Jönsson, the statue shows three children gathered around a small fountain. The paved area of the square is used regularly, like the market, and for events such as the annual Malmö Festival. The buildings surrounding the square consist of multi-storey buildings, some of which have a beautiful geometric design, dating back to 1900.
