It is a lagoon formed on the banks of the Aremao River before it flows into the Bay of Cienfuegos. It is a protected area that includes Laberientos de los Naturales, natural labyrinths created by the indigenous people, and Cayo Ocampo w is an island in Cuba and other places within the bay. The lake has an area of 3000 hectares and its name is associated with the legend of the indigenous people of Cienfuegos.
