The Spaltenhorn is an impressive limestone peak of an almost triangular pyramidal shape. It is easily visible from only a few angles, and perhaps that is why it is not as popular as other peaks of similar stature in the region; The northeastern face of Spaltenhorn is one of the most remote and highest rocky faces in the Alps at an altitude of about 1,700 metres.
