Information about Great Temple
The Great Temple of Petra is a huge archaeological complex located south of Colonnade Street in Petra. It covers an area of about 7,560 square meters. The complex was probably completed in the early first century AD, under the rule of the Nabatean King Aretas IV, as the architectural and sculptural details indicate. This temple is one of the few monuments that were built instead of being carved in the rock, and it is an important attraction in the city of Petra, which indicates the Jordanian Nabatean interest in architecture in a large way and their amazing ingenuity that made this landmark stand until this day.
