The Great Synagogue, or as it is called the Great Choral Synagogue, is a functional synagogue in the center of Grodno, and as a result of a fire in 1617 AD, this synagogue was completely destroyed. Soon after the fire, the Jews built a new synagogue on the site of the old synagogue. The second synagogue lasted longer, but it repeated the fate of its predecessor. After a strong fire, a large prayer hall remained from the synagogue. The fire caused problems for Grodno's Jews more than once, and in July 1900, a major fire destroyed again hundreds of Jewish homes and 12 synagogues. After all the destruction and fires, the Jews rebuilt the temple themselves, and it became one of the most important religious temples in the city and in Belarus in general.
